ADI introduces new RF transceivers for short-range ISM band applications and the io-homecontrol protocol
Analog Devices has announced two new RF transceivers that bring optimal performance, low power and high integration to smart grid and home and building automation applications. Smart grid technology measures the time, electricity consumption and electricity costs of users to achieve energy saving and reduce the cost and reliability of power companies to distribute electricity to customers. Both RF transceivers can be used to securely and reliably transmit this information over short distances for storage of measurement data and communication with power system computers via wireless networks. According to analysts, more than 150 million smart meters will be installed around the world in the next five years to support the growing number of smart grids.
ADI's new ADF7022 RF transceiver and ADF7023 RF transceiver are useful for remote data metering for smart grids and other applications (industrial, scientific and medical) operating in the short-range ISM band. These applications include industrial monitoring and control, wireless networks and remote sensing systems, security systems, medical devices and remote control. In addition, the ADF7022 RF transceiver is the industry's first transceiver to integrate a communications processor to support the io-homecontrol(R) protocol, a technology that enables homeowners to remotely control home systems such as curtains and blinds, awnings, garage doors, skylroofs and heating systems.
