650V fast recovery rectifier in D2PAK Real-2-Pin (R2P) package
Nexperia has introduced 650 V ultra- and hyperfast recovery rectifiers in D2PAK Real-2-Pin (R2P) packaging. These rectifiers are designed for a wide range of applications in the automotive, industrial, and consumer sectors, including charging adapters, photovoltaic (PV) systems, inverters, servers, and switching mode power supplies (SMPS).
By integrating planar die technology with a cutting-edge junction termination (JTE) design, these rectifiers provide a high power density, rapid switching speeds with smooth recovery, and exceptional reliability. The components are housed in a D2PAK Real-2-Pin Package (SOT8018), which has the same physical shape as the conventional D2PAK package but with just two pins instead of three (the middle cathode pin has been eliminated). The pin-to-pin spacing is increased from 1.25mm to over 4mm to comply with the creepage and clearance standards specified in the IEC 60664 standard.
Nexperia asserts that these recovery rectifiers serve as evidence of the company’s proficiency in the realm of semiconductor device packaging. Nexperia has developed a Real-2-Pin package by eliminating the cathode pin from a normal D2PAK device. This package is designed to fulfill the creepage and clearance criteria, specifically for high-voltage automotive applications.
